The scientific project is clearly driven by the application domain (environment).
The whole set of described thematics is seldom taken up in an integrated manner, research themes being concerned either by the modeling aspect or the observation and analysis aspect.
The two essentials points that make the basis of this proposal (with the goal of building the program described above) are:
- its multidisciplinary composition, representing a true innovation,
- the will to set up collaborations with other INRIA projects (or
external teams): IDOPT: data assimilation, SIGMA2: stochastic
forecasting, VISTA: image processing, SMIS and MEDIENCE: databases, workflows and middleware; virtual reality: a collaboration that has not been established in the past and which must be initiated.
Our positioning inside INRIA research directions, as they are currently structured, lie inside the 4C theme.
