2.1 Introduction

Part I consists of several chapters:

Chapter 1
gives an overview of some of the possibilities to manipulate a D.S. NOPO.

Chapter 2
describes the tools to construct, or manipulate a D.S. B. It describes the computation of stresses for an elasticity problem, as well as the computation of the flux or temperatures in the case of a problem using fixed mixed elements. The computation of reaction and interface forces is also found in this chapter, as is the calculation of error norms.

Chapter 3
summarizes the different manipulations corresponding to matrices and eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a system. The formatting/unformatting operations of a D.S. is also described, as well as the manner in which a D.S. NOPO is created from two files containing its mesh description.
