The MODULEF club was founded due to the need for research tools, knowledge sharing and
the communication of expertise, material means, etc. Furthermore, in the view of:
- the price and specificity of industrial software packages,
- the growing number of engineering problems which are solved using numerical simulation, and
- the complexity and multiplicity of the algorithms,
the researcher has an increasing need of a library of algorithms in order
to be able to concentrate exclusively on new methods and implement them rapidly.
These tools, developed in a modular fashion,
enables researchers to test and compare new methods, and to communicate the results of their research to a
large number of universities and industries (valorization of research). However, considering the volume of such a
library, a huge computer effort is necessary in order to make its use as least constraining and as
adaptable as possible to non-computer scientists.
