6.4 Characteristic points and lines TRPOXX

Preprocessor TRPOXX is used to plot the characteristic points and lines described in a data file of module APNOPO (see [MODULEF User Guide - 3]). This type of visualization enables the user to detect, for certain cases, errors at the data level.

The plot consists of plotting, at the characteristic points:

and/or at the middle of the characteristic lines:

The menu of TRPOIN (module called in this case) is shown below:

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 | 10 | PLOT TYPE | CHARACTERISTIC POINTS
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 | 11 | DEVICE NUMBER | 1
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 | 20 | DATA FILE | ~/latex/guide6/d2nopo.d
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 | 30 | PLOT SIZE | AUTO
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 | 40 | CHARACTER TYPE | HARD
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 | 50 | ITEMS TO PLOT | POINTS ( SYMBOL )
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 | 60 | LEGEND | YES
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A default value is proposed for each option. The above table lists the selections made automatically. To obtain a plot corresponding to this state, type 0.

A key (a number) and a status correspond to each item. To modify the status, it suffices to type the key and enter the values corresponding to the status desired (see the general introduction). The list of keys is given below:

Key 10:
the plot type: characteristic points (default value), key not modifiable (indication only).
Key 11:
the device number.
Key 20:
the name of the file containing the data. To change the file, we activate this key and input the new file name.
Key 30:
the plot will be full screen, otherwise the user must specify the size in cm.
Key 40:
the type of symbols plotted: hardware (by default), software if not.
Key 50:
the points are plotted using symbols (by default). By activating this key the user can choose between:
    POINTS ( SYMBOL ) : 1
    POINTS ( WITH NUMBERS ) : 2
    POINTS ( WITH REFERENCES ) : 3
    LIGNES : 4
    LINES ( WITH NUMBERS ) : 5
    LINES ( WITH REFERENCES ) : 6
    LINES AND POINTS : 7
    LINES AND POINTS ( NUMBER ) : 8
    LINES AND POINTS ( REFERENCES ) : 9
Key 60:
the general legend (there is a legend by default) corresponds to the indications appearing to the right of the plot (see examples: title, date, file name, ...). By typing 60, the user indicates that no legend is required.

Once a plot is displayed on the screen, a graphics menu appears which is analogous to preceding ones except fro option 7:

Example:
Two plot examples are given in figures 6.2 and 6.3. They correspond to data used to create the mesh in test 2described in [MODULEF User Guide - 2]. The first plot shows a zoom on the characteristic points whereas the second plot displays the characteristic lines with their numbers.

The plot was obtained by typing the following sequence:

Figure 6.2: Example TRPOXX: zoom in on the characteristic points

Figure 6.3: Example TRPOXX: numbers of the characteristic lines
